Texas Christian University (TCU), established in 1873, is a private institution located in Fort Worth, Texas. Originally founded as AddRan Male & Female College by brothers Addison and Randolph Clark, the university has grown substantially over the years, moving to its current location in 1910 and adopting the name Texas Christian University. TCU is affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and has consistently maintained a commitment to fostering a values-centered education. Today, it boasts a diverse student body of over 11,000 students and offers more than 100 undergraduate and 61 master's programs across its eight colleges and schools.

What sets TCU apart is its vibrant campus life and strong community spirit, encapsulated in its motto, “Learning to Change the World.” The university provides a warm and welcoming environment where students are encouraged to engage deeply both academically and socially. TCU is home to the Horned Frogs athletics teams, known for their spirited performances in the Big 12 Conference. The campus itself is an attractive mix of modern and traditional architecture, with state-of-the-art facilities including the recently renovated Amon G. Carter Stadium and the innovative Rees-Jones Hall, which supports interdisciplinary research and learning.

Academically, TCU is well-regarded for its personalized approach to education, with a student-to-faculty ratio of 13:1 that allows for intimate classroom settings and meaningful interactions with professors. The Neeley School of Business is particularly noteworthy, consistently ranked among the top business schools nationally, with strong programs in finance, accounting, and entrepreneurship. Additionally, the Bob Schieffer College of Communication is renowned for its journalism and strategic communication programs, benefiting from Schieffer’s legacy and connections to the media industry. The Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences is also highly respected, offering innovative programs that prepare students for the evolving healthcare landscape.

While TCU offers many advantages, it’s important to note some areas for potential improvement. The university’s tuition is relatively high compared to public institutions, which can be a barrier for some students despite the availability of financial aid. Additionally, while TCU is working to enhance its diversity, the student body remains predominantly white, which may impact the breadth of perspectives and experiences on campus. Housing availability can also be a concern, as the demand often exceeds the on-campus housing capacity, necessitating off-campus living for some students. Nonetheless, the university continues to make strides in these areas as part of its commitment to providing an inclusive and comprehensive educational experience.
